Bio

The young Hyur grew up only knowing the lands of southern Ilsabard. There he was raised by a single father that cared more for his own survival than his son's upbringing.
Often needing to fend for himself in his father's absence, he quickly learned how to strike out on his own at a young age only returning to his father's neglect out of obligation or subconscious instinct.
The turning point in his life, at the age of 16, was his father's act of betrayal in turning over "An able-bodied male" to the Garlean Empire in exchange for not being conscripted himself.
Upon this, the young Hyur chose to forsake his birth name. If his father cared so little for him, then he would not see fit to carry that legacy upon his spirit. Going only by his enlistment number from that day forward, he served four long years within the Empire's military.
Seeing first-hand the empire's atrocities upon his posting at Ala Mhigo, he broke rank and fled to Eorzea.

Name Origins

Upon fleeing from the Garlean Empire's army, the young Hyur had no name, no home, and was branded a fugitive of his homeland. With nowhere to go, he wandered.
Eventually reaching the lands of Ishgard, he met an old Roegadyn that took him in. This old man would grow to become the parental figure he never had. The old man would impart all of his knowledge of fishing, hunting, and the culinary arts upon his new adopted son.
This newfound happiness was sadly not destined to last. Eventually succumbing to his old age, the kind Roe would pass on after only caring for his son for a short two years.
After his death, the Hyur formerly known by only a long-forsaken enlistment number, took the name of his lost father to carry on his legacy.

Class

With his mentor gone and his short-lived happiness destroyed by the ever-churning sands of time, he once again found himself lacking direction.
Near-hopeless, he found himself dwelling within The Forgotten Knight and quickly gained employment as a cook.
One day, while making a delivery to the temple, Krag overheard one of the guards discussing a recently confiscated box of contraband. Curious, he poked his head around the corner to see what the discussion was about. As plain as day, he could see the box contained something... shiny. Something red.
Was it a Garlean uniform insignia? Did they find him?
Waiting for the guard to walk away and for the temple official to turn his back, the Hyur quickly and quietly relieved the box of the item and returned to his inn room.Upon inspection, it was not Garlean at all. It was... a job stone?
As his hands tossed the stone around in his palms, the faint glow of the gem grew ever brighter. It called to him.
Suddenly, all of his years of torment and trauma flooded his mind all at once. Panic coursed through his body as each and every mental anguish wrenched at his mind.
Everything that he was holding back, everything that he had failed to process, every tear that had gone unshed.
Suddenly... was standing before him.
A dark shade of all of his pain was right in front of him. Unspeaking. Unfeeling. Unmoving.
Krag reached out to the bubbling shadow.
And all went dark.
